City Clerk's Office Responsibilities

Located at Mountain Hall, the City Clerk’s Office is responsible for a variety of essential functions that ensure an efficient and effective experience for our citizens and visitors. Our duties include:

  • Finance & Accounting: Managing the City's financial matters with accuracy and transparency.
  • Human Resources: Overseeing employee relations and City staffing needs.
  • Licensing: Administering business and other licenses required by the City.
  • Revenue Collections: Collecting payments for taxes and city services.
  • Records Management: Safeguarding official City records and facilitating public access.
  • Open Records Requests: Processing requests for public information in accordance with state laws.
  • Notary Services: Offering certified notary services for residents.
  • Administrative Support: Providing vital support to the Mayor and City Council members.

Municipal Property Taxes

Property tax statements are typically mailed by October 30th each year. The deadline for payment without penalty is December 31st.

Important: Your annual property tax statement includes a $450.00 sanitation fee, which covers:

  • Regular sanitation services
  • Leaf and brush pick-up
  • Monthly Dumpster Day (held on the first Saturday of each month at the Public Works Department)

Exemptions:
While the City does not offer homestead or elderly tax exemptions, residents may be eligible for exemptions on Walker County taxes. For more information, please visit the Walker County Tax Assessor's website.
