REGULAR MEETING
For the
City Council of Lookout Mountain, Georgia
July 19, 2007
 
PRESIDING: Dennis Eischeid, Vice Mayor
 
PRESENT: Council Members Catherine Kelley, Ray Seipp, Sandy Gothard, Daniel Pettway, City Clerk Dana Driver, City Attorney Bill Pickering, and Chief Wallace Taylor.
 
CALL TO ORDER: Vice Mayor Eischeid called the meeting of the City Council to order at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 1214 Lula Lake Road, Lookout Mountain, Georgia. 
 
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the regular meeting held on June 12, 2007 were approved as submitted. The minutes of the called meeting held June 28, 2007 were approved as submitted.
 
BLOOD ASSURANCE PROCLAMATION: Vice Mayor Eischeid read a proposed proclamation proclaiming the month of August as Blood Assurance Month. The proclamation was unanimously approved by the City Council.
 
PRIVILEGE LICENSE – William Montgomery and Heather Biebel submitted a request for a privilege license for their business “Rare Earth Recycling Service”. Mr. Montgomery stated that pickup would be curbside and their company would handle all forms of recycling. He also stated that pickup would occur on Saturdays, not Sundays as their brochure had indicated. After discussion regarding the pickup times and leaving items curbside, it was moved, seconded and approved to grant the license as requested.
 
CITIZEN RECOGNITION – Vice Mayor Eischeid recognized Will Pickering, son of our city attorney Bill Pickering, as valedictorian at McCallie School. Will is an Eagle Scout and will be attending Princeton this fall. The Vice Mayor also recognized the accomplishments of other young people on the mountain, including the twins, DeeDee and CeeCee Walls. 
 
STORMWATER REPORT: Vice Mayor Eischeid distributed the current stormwater activity report. A copy of which is attached. 
 
POLICE REPORT: Chief Taylor announced that fines are still in effect decals that are not up to date. He reminded citizens to make sure all shrubs are trimmed to property lines but that good visibility could be seen from oncoming vehicles. He also reminded citizens to make sure to lock our homes and cars. Several cars had been broken into recently.
 
PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY: Mr. Pettway reported that the pathway is still pending approval from the GDOT.   Additional funding for memorial sites will be available at a later date for people wanting to donate to the project.

.MAYOR’S REPORT:
 
a.       The Vice Mayor acknowledged Ray Seipp’s appointment to the Northwest GA. Joint Development Authority. 
 
b.      After discussion by the council, it was agreed to continue with the consulting agreement with Catherine Fox, as budgeted, for the 2007-2008 year.
 
c.       The Lookout Mountain FD hosted the Mutual Aid Meeting at the Catholic Church. Over 70 people from surrounding fire and police departments attended. Outgoing communications with other departments has never been better according to Vice Mayor Eischeid.
 
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
