CALLED MEETING
For the
City Council of Lookout Mountain, Georgia
October 14, 2008
PRESIDING: Thomas G. Gifford, Mayor
PRESENT: Council Members Dennis Eischeid, Daniel Pettway, Sandy Gothard, Catherine Kelley, David Fussell, City Attorney Bill Pickering, Police Chief Wallace Taylor and City Clerk Dana Driver.
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Gifford called the meeting of the City Council to order at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 1214 Lula Lake Road, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the regular meeting held September 18, 2008 were approved as submitted.
OATH OF OFFICE: Judge Richard Taliaferro conducted the swearing in ceremony for the City’s newest councilman David Fussell.
MILLAGE RATE – The millage rate will remain the same for 2008 at a net rate of 8.5 mills. An ordinance to set this millage rate was passed on first reading. A called meeting to vote on a second reading was scheduled for October 21 at 7:30a.m.
REZONING 1827 LULA LAKE ROAD – The Mayor requested that the Council approve a motion to start the rezoning process on the property at 1827 Lula Lake Road, which the City has a purchase option on, to allow the Public Works and the sewer department to relocate to this property. Motion was made, seconded and approved for the Mayor to go before the Planning Commission on behalf of the City Council to consider rezoning 1827 Lula Lake Road to “Municipal Buildings and Facilities”.
MONTHLY STORMWATER & SEWER REPORT - Copies of the current storm water activity report were distributed to the Council. A copy of which is attached. Catherine Fox, the City’s stormwater consultant, is working on the City’s annual report.
MAYOR’S REPORT
1) The Mayor announced the Golf Cart issue would be tabled until November.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
