Minutes of the
REGULAR MEETING
For the
City Council of Lookout Mountain, Georgia
April 19, 2007
 
PRESIDING: Thomas G. Gifford, Mayor
 
PRESENT: Council Members Dennis Eischeid, Catherine Kelley, Ray Seipp, and Daniel Pettway, City Clerk Mary Katherine Harper, City Attorney Bill Pickering, and  Chief Wallace Taylor.
 
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Gifford called the meeting of the City Council to order at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 1214 Lula Lake Road, Lookout Mountain, Georgia. 
 
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the regular meeting held on March 15 and the called meeting of March 22, 2007 were approved as submitted.
 
TARA MURDOCK PRIVILDGE LICENSE: Tarasubmitted a request for a privilege license for her catering business to be run out of her home.   After discussion and confirmation her business met the city guidelines it was moved, seconded and approved to grant the license as requested.
 
TOURDEGEORGIA REPORT: Mayor Gifford reported on the successful two days of the Tour de Georgia. The event seemed well received with large crowds watching both days. Thanks was expressed to the entire publics works crew, sewer department, police and fire departments, Mary Catherine Harper and the TN police department for helping it to be a well organized, safe, and fun event for all those who were involved.
 
SOLID WASTE MANAGENMENT PLAN: As requested by Coosa Valley Regional Development Center, a resolution was passed approving the rough draft of the Walker County Multi-Jurisdictional Solid Waste Management Plan. The Mayor explained he and Daniel Cates had reviewed the portion pertaining to Lookout Mtn. and no significant changes were involved. 
 
SENIOR CITIZEN’S DAY PROCLAMANTION: Vice-mayor Eischeid explained the Senior Citizen’s Day event in Walker County every year and requested the passage of a proclamation from the city proclaiming May 16, 2007 as Senior Citizen Day. The resolution was approved and given to the Vice-mayor to present on the city’s behalf.
 
STORMWATER REPORT: Mayor Gifford distributed the current stormwater activity report.
 
PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY: Daniel Pettway advised that he had received the final contracts from GDOT. It was moved, seconded, and passed that the Mayor be given permission to sign the contract on behalf of the city subject to the city attorney’s approval of the same. In accordance, the appropriate resolution was passed giving the Mayor authority to execute the contract. A copy of the resolution is attached. Then GDOT would have to sign the contract and release us for getting our bids and beginning construction.

PARKING LOT:   The Mayor advised the council that Scott Maclellan had approached the city regarding the need and cost to seal the parking lot and re-paint the parking spaces. It was agreed that it was a fair proposition to split the cost up to $2,200.
This was approved by the council.
 
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
